8-Hour Radiation Safety Course
NRC regulations require that all individuals who are likely to receive an annual dose in excess of 100mRem receive training on the safe use of radioactive materials. This class meets those requirements and is ideal for personnel who are required to work in close proximity to the gages.
This class also meets the minimum requirements for those individuals who will limit their activities to "routine maintenance" of the gages (wipe tests and shutter checks).
Itinerary
- Types, characteristics and origins of ionizing radiation used for industrial measurement.
- Principles and practices of radiation protection (time, distance and shielding).
- Radioactivity measurement standardization and monitoring techniques and instruments.
- Mathematics calculations made to the use and measurement of radioactivity.
- Biological effects of exposure to ionizing radiation.
- Procedures for performing radiological duties.
