Source Holder / Radiation Source
The Ronan Density/Percent Solids Monitor uses the cesium-137 isotope as its source of radiation. The cesium isotope has been selected for its excellent penetration capability and 30-year half-life. The source material is doubly encapsulated in a heliarc-welded stainless steel capsule and placed into the ductile iron source holder. The lead filled source holder provides shielding in all directons except where the radiation is beamed toward the detector. A shutter is provided to allow complete shielding during shipping, installation and maintenance.
